Police arrest man for taking upskirt photos at Commonwealth MRT

SINGAPORE - The police have arrested a 37-year-old man suspected of taking an upskirt photo of a woman.

The victim, 31, was ascending an escalator leading to Commonwealth MRT station when she noticed the suspect's mobile phone placed under her skirt from behind. The suspect fled from the scene after the woman shouted for assistance.

Officers from Queenstown NPC later managed to establish the identity of the suspect after intensive enquiries and review of footage from Police cameras.

Investigations against the suspect are ongoing.

If convicted of Insulting the Modesty of a Woman under Section 509 of the Penal Code Chapter 224, the suspect may be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine, or with both.
