Police arrest woman, 18, over online sales of 'vapourware' tickets

SINGAPORE - Police said that they have arrested an 18-year-old woman suspected to be involved in a series of online purchase scams.

The police said that victims would be convinced into making advance payments for tickets at prices below market rate. The woman would then not deliver the tickets and would become uncontactable.

The police said that they arrested the woman on Monday (April 13) in Joo Chiat Road.

They also said that the woman had made use of bank accounts belonging to other people "to receive the proceeds of her crime".

The woman will be charged in court tomorrow for cheating. She may be jailed for up to 10 years if convicted.

The police advise members of the public to be careful when doing business online, and to be wary of fraud artists on the Internet.
