Police called in over suspicious bag at Orchard Boulevard bus stop

SINGAPORE - Police officers were seen inspecting a suspicious-looking bag at a bus stop opposite Orchard MRT Station Saturday evening around 6pm.

Stomp contributor Kashley came across the scene and said the police tried to get people to stay away from the bag.

The bag was seized after nothing incriminating was found inside after further checks, said a Police spokesperson.

The contributor wrote: "Who could have left this bag hanging up there at a bus stop at Orchard Boulevard opposite Orchard MRT Station?

"It was a suspicious-looking baggage with police at the scene to do crowd control."

A spokesperson for the Police responded to Stomp's queries about the incident.

Said the spokesperson: "Police received a call on Mar 29, 2014 at about 5.22pm requesting for assistance at a bus stop along Orchard Boulevard.

"Upon Police's arrival, a blue and grey bag was found unattended at the said location.

"Nothing incriminating was found in the bag upon further checks.

"The bag was seized as found property. The owner of the bag is advised to contact the SPF's Found & Unclaimed Properties Office (FUPO) at 6842 9645to claim his or her bag."
