NILAI - Police have detained a 40-year-old woman whose 15-year-old handicapped and severely malnourished son was found abandoned by Immigration officers in a flat in Taman Semarak near here early Saturday.
Nilai OCPD Supt Abdullah Roning said the woman, who was believed to be employed as a helper in a catering company in Sepang, was arrested on Saturday evening.
"We have obtained an order to remand her till Wednesday," he said adding that the case was being investigated under section 31 (1) of the Child Act 2001.

An Immigration team conducting checks to weed out illegals at a block of flats in Taman Semarak near here found the teenager who was later identified as Muhammad Firdaus Dullah naked and covered in his own faeces and urine during a routine check.
The boy, who is also mentally challenged, was so thin that he could not even stand up or sit on his own.
Preliminary investigations revealed that he had been left there alone by his mother.
The teenager was only wearing a tattered and soiled t-shirt when he was found. His limbs were also distorted possibly due to severe malnutrition.
The entire unit was also full of filth with used polysterene packs scatterred all over the place.
The teenager was later sent to the Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital where he was given a bath and a hair cut.
His mother had earlier said that she had to leave him alone as there was no one to look after him when she went to work.
