Police hunt for Thai woman over missing Japanese husband

Police have continued to search for a 47-year-old Thai woman who disappeared after being released on bail for theft on Friday as part of an investigation into the whereabouts of her elderly Japanese husband.

Maj-General Sombat Milinthajinda yesterday said investigators would meet to discuss the case today.

An informed source said police went to Prachin Buri looking for Phornchanok Chaiyapa and her Thai husband, after learning that they went there to visit Phornchanok's eldest daughter, but did not find them.

Police from Bangkok's Huai Khwang station also contacted Bang Sao Thong Police Station officers in Samut Prakan for information about the death of Phornchanok's previous Japanese husband, who died after falling down stairs 12 years ago.

Police ruled that incident was an accident.

Phornchanok's current Japanese husband has been missing since late September.
