Police nab suspected molester after 2-week hunt

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 36-year-old man for suspected involvement in a case of molest.

The police said in a statement today (March 10) that a 17-year-old woman reported on Feb 23 that she had been molested by a man while she was waiting for a bus in Choa Chu Kang Avenue 4.

Officers from Jurong Police Divison and the Police Public Transport Security Command then "initiated meticulous investigations to ascertain the identity and whereabouts of the suspect", they said.

The 36-year-old was arrested in Lorong 2 Toa Payoh on March 9, at about 4.45pm.

The man will be charged in court tomorrow. If convicted, he may be jailed up to two years, fined, and caned, the police said.
