Police officer dies from gunshot wound to his head

SINGAPORE - A police officer was found with a gunshot wound to his head at the Bukit Timah Neighbourhood Police Centre (NPC) this morning.

At 7.40am this morning, 23-year-old Sergeant Sandeep Singh was found with a gunshot wound to his head in the toilet of the NPC.

His service revolver was found beside him.

He was pronounced dead at Alexandra Hospital at about 8.29am.

He had reported for duty at 7.06am today in preparation for his morning shift duties and drew his service revolver from the armoury.

Sergeant Sandeep joined the Singapore Police Force in 2012 and has been working at the NPC since Jan 2 this year.

Police have classified the case as unnatural death and are investigating. No foul play is suspected.
