POSB cardholders applying for free rides scheme hit by downtime

SINGAPORE - POSB cardholders who tried to apply for a free MRT travel on Fridays scheme have been unable to access the the EZ-Link website since late Tuesday.

According to a post on Facebook at about midnight, EZ-Link posted an apology for the down-time, stating that "due to intermittent connection problems, you may face difficulties when accessing our website to apply for EZ-Reload for Fare Free Friday. We are currently working on resolving the issue and will provide an update when the problem is resolved."

As of 11.30am on Wednesday, the website was still down.

POSB on Tuesday launched a scheme which will provide 100,000 commuters with unlimited free travel on the MRT, LRT and buses every Friday until the end of the year.

The offer is valid for customers who link their POSB Everyday MasterCard Card or PAssion POSB MasterCard Debit Card to EZ-Reload, a feature that allows these cards to be topped up automatically.

The first 50,000 commuters to apply for it will enjoy free ride which takes the form of 100 per cent cashback, while existing card holders who activate EZ-Reload before July 31 will be automatically enrolled for the promotion.
