President of Hungary to make state visit to Singapore

SINGAPORE - President of Hungary, Dr Janos Ader, will make a state visit to Singapore at the invitation of President Tony Tan, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement today.

President Ader will be in Singapore with his wife Dr Anita Herczegh and officials from the Office of the President. They will be in town from today (April 8) till April 11.

During his visit, there will be an official welcome ceremony in his honour at the Istana on April 9. Thereafter, President Ader will conduct separate meetings with President Tan and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Speaker of Parliament Halimah Yacob will then host a lunch for President Ader along with his delegation.

Later in the day, President Tan and Mrs Tan will host a state banquet in honour of President Ader and his wife.

President Ader will meet with Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Dr Vivian Balakrishnan at the Marina Barrage, where will also be briefed on Singapore's sustainability efforts.

After his meeting with Dr Balakrishnan, the President will also visit A*STAR for a briefing on the science and research landscape in Singapore as well as tour FusionWorld, A*STAR's technology showcase of award-winning inventions and in-house as well as industry-collaboration prototypes created by its research institutes.
