Statement from the Housing and Development Board (HDB):

A total of 33 projects by the Housing & Development Board (HDB) and one outstanding HDB officer will be conferred prizes at this year's Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Awards ceremony, to be held at the Resorts World Sentosa on 22 May 2014.

The awards recognise developers and builders for their contribution in shaping a safe, sustainable, friendly and high quality built environment in Singapore.

Green Mark Awards

This year, HDB will receive a total of 23 awards, the highest number of Green Mark Awards garnered by a single agency. Among the winners, three HDB office complexes, HDB Hub, Connection One, and HDB Centre of Building Research, will clinch the Platinum Green Mark Award while nine other HDB projects will achieve the GoldPlus award, as HDB continues to make strides in creating a sustainable living environment for residents.

Universal Design Mark Award

For its efforts in Universal Design, HDB will bag the Universal Design Mark Award for four housing projects. Among them, the landmark integrated project, Kampung Admiralty, which was unveiled at a groundbreaking ceremony in April by Minister Khaw Boon Wan, will receive top honours, with a Universal Design Mark GoldPlus Award for incorporating Universal Design features beyond the mandatory requirements.

Users of all ages and abilities will benefit from the ease of accessibility within the development, once it is completed in 2017.

Construction Productivity Awards

Two HDB housing projects, Punggol Breeze and Casa Clementi, will also clinch the Platinum Award for Construction Productivity.

A third project, Havelock View, will receive the Gold Award.

This top accolade affirms HDB's commitment to improve productivity at the construction site to ensure that flats are delivered on time without compromising on quality.

Construction Excellence Award

In recognition of the quality of its housing projects, six projects will be awarded the Construction Excellence Award.

Alongside Punggol Breeze and Casa Clementi, the other HDB Build-to-Order (BTO) projects are Punggol Spectra, Senja Green, Damai Grove and Fernvale Lodge.

With more than 28,000 households receiving the keys to their homes this year, HDB will maintain a stringent quality assessment framework to ensure that home buyers receive quality homes with minimal defects.

BCA-SGBC Green Building Individual Awards

In addition to its building projects, HDB's Director (Environmental Sustainability Research), Mr Alan Tan Hock Seng, will be named Green Architect of the Year, for his consistent contribution and outstanding achievements in driving sustainability efforts in many iconic HDB projects such as the Treelodge @ Punggol and My Waterway @ Punggol.

A breakdown of the awards is as follows:

- 23 Green Mark Awards

- 6 Construction Excellence Awards

- 4 Universal Design Mark Awards

- 3 Construction Productivity Awards (2 Platinum Awards, 1 Gold Award)

- 1 BCA-SGBC Green Building Individual Awards (Green Architect)

HDB's Chief Executive Officer, Dr Cheong Koon Hean said, "The Awards that we have garnered is a testament of HDB's good work, especially in the area of creating a sustainable built environment. This can be attributed to our hard work in researching, developing and implementing various green initiatives across our developments. We will continue to do our best to deliver good quality flats and a better living environment for our residents."
