Raising a mammoth sum for charity

More than $1.5 million has been raised in this year's ComChest Heartstrings Walk 2014 @ Marina Bay, the highest since the inaugural edition of the event in 2011.

Here, the Community Chest Sharity Elephant is seen interacting with some of the 8,500 participants who took part in a 4km walk around Marina Bay yesterday to raise funds.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, was at the event to flag off the walk.

The money raised for the Community Chest will be matched by the Government.
