Ready to make themselves heard

SINGAPORE - Singapore Expo Hall 2 was not just filled with the sound of music yesterday, but musicians as well - 3,820 of them.

They were rehearsing for a mega concert on June 28, when they will attempt to break a Guinness World Record for the largest drum ensemble.

Called Our People, Our Music 2014, the 1.5 hour-long concert will be the first arts event held at the new 55,000-seat National Stadium in Kallang.

Featuring amateur and professional musicians based in Singapore - including Pakistanis, Indonesians and Japanese, the event brings together 125 performing groups here.

Its organiser, the Singapore Chinese Orchestra, hopes the event will find its way into the Singapore Book of Records for the largest Chinese orchestra performance and largest erhu ensemble.
