Real estate broker charged with shooting at two cops

KUALA LUMPUR - A real estate broker was charged at the Ampang magistrate's court yesterday with two counts of shooting at two policemen last month.

Abdul Aziz Soh Abdullah, 43, was charged with firing a shot at Lance Corporal Lionel Richard Jr and another shot at Constable ZullFadzly Atlah with the intention to kill or cause hurt.

He allegedly committed the offence in Taman Lembah Maju, Pandan Indah, here at 10.52 am on April 11.

In court yesterday, Aziz nodded his head as a sign he understood the charge when it was read out to him in Cantonese. No plea was recorded.

He was charged under Section 3 of the Firearms (increased penalties) Act 1971, which, upon conviction, carries the death penalty.

Deputy public prosecutor Faridah Nirdinie Bahrum did not offer bail as it was a charge under the increased penalties. Magistrate Zulyana Zollkapli fixed Aug 7 for mention pending a chemistry report.

The accused was not represented.
