Couple charged in court, Yang Kaiheng, 26, and his girlfriend Ai Takagi, 22, allegedly published seditious articles on sociopolitical website The Real Singapore (TRS) between October 2013 and March this year, which promoted ill will and hostility between different classes of the Singapore population.

SINGAPORE - One of the editors of socio-political website The Real Singapore (TRS) has been allowed to return to Australia to visit his father, who recently suffered a stroke.

Mr Yang Kaiheng, 26, was given permission to leave Singapore from Monday, May 4 until Sunday, May 17.

But he will have to comply with new conditions, including an additional bail sum of $40,000, and the submission of a complete itinerary while in Australia, reported Channel Newsasia.

Bail for Mr Yang had previously been set at $20,000.

Mr Yang and his fiancee, Miss Ai Takagi, were each charged with seven counts of sedition on April 14 for allegedly publishing seditious articles on TRS and the TRS Facebook page.

They also face an additional charge for failing to produce documents to a police officer.

On Sunday, May 3, access to the website was disabled after the Media Development Authority (MDA) suspended its administrators' statutory class license to operate.
