Record $288k raised for SportCares

Guest-of-honour President Tony Tan Keng Yam holding up a $288,000 cheque - the amount raised for the SportCares Foundation by the Seletar-SportCares Foundation Fund-Raising golf event at Seletar Country Club on Saturday.

He was joined by Mercedes Benz representative Wolfgang Huppenbauer, Singapore Sports Council deputy chairman Cheah Kim Teck, Dr Kuan Yong Kuan from Toshiba Medical Systems, Seletar Country Club chairman Khoo Teng Chye and club captain Phua Hua Seng.

More than 130 golfers took to the greens to raise the money - the largest sum ever at a single event since the foundation was launched a year ago as the first recommendation of Vision 2030.
