Recurring train fault causes MRT disruption between Jurong East and Joo Koon stations

SINGAPORE - A recurring train fault on the East-West Line has caused a service disruption during peak hour today (Feb 19) between Jurong East and Joo Koon MRT stations.

At about 5.45pm, SMRT had tweeted that a train fault had caused an estimated additional travel time of 15 minutes. Free bus services were available at the affected stations.

At 6pm, it said that there was no train service between Joo Koon and Jurong East due to the train fault, while the free bus service remained available.

However at 6.22pm, it said: "Due to a recurring train fault, please expect 20 minutes additional traveling time from #JurongEast to #JooKoon."

It added that the time it would take to resume the service was 30 minutes.

Free bus and bridging service remained available.

At about 6.40pm, SMRT updated that "service on both bounds have resumed. Free bus services and shuttles will continue until further notice."

Even as the train services have resumed, the free bus services remain available, SMRT tweeted at 7pm.
