Reds rivalry in S'pore

It is one of the fiercest rivalries in football and, this November, Singapore fans will be able to witness that intensity first-hand when former stars of Manchester United and Liverpool face off at the National Stadium.

They will be taking part in a Castlewood Group Battle of the Reds match on Nov 14 - an 80-minute, 11-a-side game in front of a targeted 11,000 fans occupying the bottom tier of the spectator seats.

The Liverpool Masters side have confirmed five players for the match.

Fan favourites Robbie Fowler and Steve McManaman will be joined by three players from the 2005 Champions League-winning team - goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek and midfielders Dietmar Hamann and Luis Garcia.

The Man United Masters side also have five confirmed stars, three of whom come from their 1995-96 Double-winning side: Defender Paul Parker, midfielder Lee Sharpe and striker Andy Cole.

The other Red Devils stars are Ronny Johnsen and Karel Poborsky.

Sharpe summed up the rivalry in a statement released by the organisers: "There's always pressure against Liverpool. We don't like losing to Liverpool and they don't like losing to us."

The match is organised by Masters Football Asia and Castlewood Group. Tickets are on sale at www.mastersfootball.com and SportsHubTix. Prices range from $19 to $45, with family packages (two adults and two kids) at $88.20 and $115.20.
