Revamped Rochor Canal stretch officially opens

SINGAPORE - A 1.1km-long stretch of the Rochor Canal between Jalan Besar and Crawford street has been transformed into a vibrant waterway.

The makeover seamlessly connects existing residential and commercial developments, linking surrounding residents to districts like Bugis, Kampong Glam, Jalan Besar, Bencoolen, and Lavender MRT station.

Lookout decks along the promenade allow pedestrians to take in the scenic views of the waterway. Two pedestrian bridges were also reconstructed to further connect the river and between developments.

This section of the canal, which is part of the Public Utilities Board's (PUB's) Active, Beautiful, Clean Waters (ABC Waters) Programme, was also deepened and widened as part of continual drainage improvement to increase its capacity.

The revamped part of Rochor Canal was officially opened by MP Denise Phua on Sunday.
