Robbers posed as police to steal donations

MALAYSIA - Harian Metro also reported that three men, posing as policemen, got away with RM35,000 (S$13,700) in donations meant to help Palestinian Muslims perform their Hari Raya Aidiladha sacrifice.

Ustaz Muhammad Abdullah said that two of his aides were robbed and one was abducted by the men at Bandar Sunway, Selangor, on Sunday.

The renowned religious speaker, better know as Ustaz Amin, said the money was for the purchase of 10 heads of cattle in Palestine, as well as to send 105 volunteers on a humanitarian mission there.

One of the victims, Mohd Syafiq Urrahman, 24, said that when they arrived at a shopping centre's car park at 2.30pm, a black van veered and stopped in front of their car. "Three men got down and claimed that they were the police," he said.

"They also wore caps which had the police emblem, and one of them forced me to get into the van."

He said that they grabbed the money and drove off.

"One of the men held an axe to my face and threatened to harm me if I resisted," he said, adding that he was finally dropped off unharmed near Sungai Penchala.

Subang deputy OCPD Supt Tan Ah Chua said the case was being investigated.
