Robbery suspect arrested within 10 hours

SINGAPORE - A 33-year-old man who allegedly robbed and hurt an elderly victim was arrested by the police within ten hours of the incident.

At ten past midnight today, the suspect was said to have assaulted and robbed a 73-year-old woman along the common corridor of her home located in the vicinity of Clementi Ave 4. Cash amounting to $3,300 was reportedly taken.

With the help of CCTV footage, officers from the Clementi Police Division traced and arrested the suspect in Eunos at 10.50am today.

The suspect will be charged in Court tomorrow for an offence of Robbery with Hurt under Section 394 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224.

If found guilty, he faces imprisonment term of not less than 5 years and not more than 20 years, and shall also be punished with caning of not less than 12 strokes.
