Several government websites were inaccessible last Saturday as they were undergoing maintenance from 1pm to 3pm when a hardware failure occurred, said IDA.

They explained this was due to a combination of a routing issue and a hardware failure, resulting in a glitch in the system.

IDA also informed the public on Sunday, Nov 3, that maintenance on its systems were still being carried out at midnight.

Government agencies have been on "heightened vigilance" after a threat from someone claiming to be from the global hacker group 'Anonymous', IDA added in a statement.

The person threatened to "go to war" with Singapore by attacking its financial infrastructure to protest recent licensing rules for news websites.
