RSAF personnel standby for National Day celebration

"It's not just a normal day - it's very serious, the real deal. I think when l look back at my NS days in future, I will feel proud of how I have contributed," said 3SG Pradeep Singh, a Full-Time National Service Dedicated Crew Chief in 140 SQN. He leads a team alongside our Regular Air Force Engineers to prepare our F-16 fighters that stand ready to defend Singapore's skies when called upon.

Good National Day Morning Singapore! Even as most of us are waking up, let us not forget our airmen and women on duty across Singapore who give us the peace of mind to celebrate our nation's 49th Birthday! Today we bring you our team of ground crew and air defence pilots who are on standby duty as Singapore's first line of air defence.

"Once the day starts, we start work. It's not just during the National Day Parade itself that we have to be on duty. It all begins as early as 4am in the morning and we will be on duty through the night," said 3SG Pradeep.

At the same time, CPT Jervis Choo, a Fighter Pilot with 140 SQN who is also on standby duty, explained how he finds meaning in his air defence duty.

"The security and peace that we enjoy motivate me to do my part in defending Singapore's skies so that we can continue to prosper as a nation," said CPT Choo. "It fills me with pride to be able to carry out such a fulfilling mission."
