S’porean dies in gyrocopter crash in Australia

AUSTRALIA - An 18-year-old Singaporean student and an Australian pilot died in a gyrocopter crash in Victorian bushland. Local news reports identified the student as Jordan Peng and the pilot as 51-year-old Reg Thaggard.

Their bodies were found yesterday in rugged terrain in Kinglake National Park, said The Australian newspaper. They had been flying over a remote area of the ranges to view bushfire damage when the aircraft went down, said Victoria Police Acting Senior Sergeant Colin Anderson.

The aircraft crashed about 6km from the Yarra Valley Conference Centre near Dixons Creek on Saturday, reported Australian daily The Herald Sun.
