SAF bomb squad alerted to suspected war relic found at construction site

SINGAPORE - The Singapore Armed Force's (SAF) bomb squad was activated yesterday morning after a suspected war relic found at a construction site turned out to 107mm calibre round.

According to The Singapore Army's Facebook page, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team disposed of the relic after it was deemed unsafe.

The post read: "Our Bomb Squad was activated again to keep Singapore safe!

"Our Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) standby team was activated yesterday morning when a suspected war relic was found at a construction site in the western part of Singapore.

"This time it was a 107mm calibre round that was fused and fired. The protective cap was missing and the striker head was exposed making the round extremely dangerous to handle.

"The heavy rain didn't make things any easier and the relic was assessed to be unsafe for handling. It was eventually safely disposed off on site by our EOD team yesterday evening.

"Once again, thank you EOD team for keeping Singapore safe!"
