SINGAPORE - The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) has unveiled plans for a series of commemorative and celebratory activities this year to mark the 50th anniversary of its formation.

Set to the theme of "Our SAF: Giving strength to our nation", the SAF50 activities will pay tribute to the people who have contributed to the defence, security and sovereignty of Singapore.

The central emphasis of this commemorative effort is to show how the SAF has been giving strength to the nation by providing peace, stability, and security.

To kick start the SAF50 celebrations, Defence Minister Dr Ng Eng Hen will be gracing the opening day of the event held at VivoCity mall on Feb 12.

The four-day exhibition will showcase the combined assets and capabilities from the Singapore Army, the Republic of Singapore Navy and the Republic of Singapore Air Force.

The SAF50 event will also present an interactive and experiential exhibition to honour individuals who have contributed to the force over the last 50 years.

The public can also look forward to other exciting activities such as a roving SAF50 exhibition which will set up at various locations from Feb to Oct this year, a "Thank You" card movement, and online activities.
