SAF to conduct military exercises from Dec 23-30

SINGAPORE - The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) will conduct military exercises in Seletar, Marsiling, Jalan Bahar, Neo Tiew, Lim Chu Kang, Jalan Kwok Min, Tuas, Upper Jurong, Hong Kah, Ama Keng, Bedok Jetty, Kranji, Lentor, Simpang, Sembawang, Mandai from 8.00am on Mon, 23 Dec 2013 to 8.00am on Mon, 30 Dec 2013.

Blanks and thunderflashes will be used.

In addition, Live Firing Exercises will take place in Pasir Laba (SAFTI) Live Firing Area from 8.00 am on Mon, 23 Dec 2013 to 8.00am on Mon 30 Dec 2013.

Sea vessels and crafts sailing through the Western Johor Straits during that period are to keep within the 75m Navigable Sea Lane and not to stray into the Live Firing Boundary as live ammunition and flares will be used.

The public is advised not to be alarmed and to keep clear of these areas.

As the islands of Pulau Sudong, Pulau Senang and Pulau Pawai are proclaimed manoeuvring and firing grounds, SAF has advised the public to keep clear of these islands. The public is also advised to stay clear of the prohibited waters off Changi Naval Base and Tuas Naval Base.

Mindef also said in a statement on Thursday that the Republic of Singapore Air Force will be conducting Live Firing exercises around Pulau Sudong, Pulau Pawai and Pulau Senang from 23 Dec 2013 to 27 Dec 13 daily from 7.00am to 11.00pm and 28 Dec 2013, 8.00am to 1.00pm.

Flares will be released during the night firing.

The public is advised to keep clear of Pulau Pawai, Pulau Senang and Pulau Sudong which lie within the Live Firing Areas.
