SAF to have military and live firing exercises from Feb 9 - 16

SINGAPORE - The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) will be conducting military exercises at various locations around the island from 8am on Monday, Feb 9 to 8am on Monday, Feb 16, the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) said in a press statement today.

The exercises will take place at Seletar, Marsiling, Jalan Bahar, Neo Tiew, Lim Chu Kang, Jalan Kwok Min, Tuas, Upper Jurong, Hong Kah, Ama Keng, Bedok Jetty, Kranji, Lentor, Simpang, Sembawang and Mandai.

The public is advised not to be alarmed and to keep clear of these areas as blanks and thunderflashes will be used.

According to Mindef, SAF will also conduct live firing exercises in Pasir Laba (SAFTI) Live Firing Area on those dates.

Live ammunition and flares will be used. Mindef said sea vessels and crafts sailing through the Western Johor Straits are to keep within the 75m Navigable Sea Lane and not to stray into the Live Firing Boundary.

The islands of Pulau Sudong, Pulau Senang and Pulau Pawai have also been proclaimed manoeuvring and firing grounds. The public is advised to keep clear of these islands and also to stay clear of the prohibited waters off Changi Naval Base and Tuas Naval Base.

Meanwhile, the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) is currently undergoing a military exercise that will end on Feb 13.

The public is advised not to be alarmed at increased flying activities and loud notices as the aircraft transits to its training areas,

RSAF will also be conducting live firing exercises around Pulau Sudong, Pulau Pawai and Pulau Senang from Feb 9 to Feb 13, 7am-11pm and on Feb 14, 8am-1pm.

Flares will be released during the night firing, and the public is advised to keep clear of the live firing areas.
