SAF team leaps into action after war relic found in Geylang

Singapore Armed Forces (SAF)'s Explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) standby team leaped into action when a fused and fired 4.5 inch World War II projectile was found at a construction site in Geylang on New Year's Eve.

SAF posted photos of the war relic as well as the EOD team in action on Facebook, along with a short write up.

In the post, SAF said:

"As Singaporeans were celebrating the end of 2014 and welcome the new year, our Explosive Ordnance Disposal standby team sprung into action when a war relic was found at a construction site near Geylang.

"The relic was assessed to be a fused and fired 4.5 inch World War II projectile. The war relic was safely moved to a disposal site, and was successfully destroyed by our EOD crew.

"Thank you EOD team for your 24/7 operational readiness and for keeping Singapore safe!"
