SCO kicks off Jubilee at the Botanics in front of 3,000-strong crowd

SINGAPORE - A crowd of close to 3,000 turned up at the Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage, Botanic Gardens tonight (May 30) for a journey of musical discovery.

As part of Temasek Presents, Jubilee at the Botanics, the Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO), put on a performance with vocalist Tay Kewei who was also the host for the event.

Playing local favourites, including a unique medley of TV series theme songs, SCO performed for an hour, culminating in a performance of the song Home. This was the first time that the SCO performed with the contemporary sounds of Kewei.

The second half of Jubilee at the Botanics will be held tomorrow evening with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra taking the stage, and will be performing with Amni Musfirah. Local singer Nathan Hartono will also be onsite to mingle with the attending crowd.

Jubilee at the Botanics builds on last year's collaboration between Temasek and the two orchestras as part of the firm's 40th anniversary celebrations.

The concert series brought some of the best classical music straight to the hearts and neighbourhoods of Singapore as part of the 'Sharing the Journey. At home with the classics' series.
