SEA Games Carnival opens May 31

SINGAPORE - During this year's June holidays, members of the public can look forward to the 28th SEA Games Carnival, a prelude to the Opening Ceremony of the 28th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

The carnival, which opens on May 31, will be held at the Singapore Sports Hub. It will feature games such as the 300-degree table tennis table, hockey-golf, pool-football and laser-tag battles at the Sports Hub.

For those who prefer more action, the carnival sports a Junior Zone with with colourful inflatables such as a 10-meter tall Giant Slide, an obstacle course bouncy castle and an inflatable rock climbing facility.

A media release by Singapore Southeast Asian Games Organising Committee (SINGSOC) said that there will also be performances by local artistes every weekend from 2pm to 6pm. The line-up includes The Sam Willows, Daphne Khoo and Charlie Lim among other bands.

Carnival-goers can catch a light show every evening as well as a dance and percussion performance, "A Day At The Games" at 9pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, except for June 5 and June 16.

Athletes meet and greet sessions will also be planned following medal wins, in which the schedule and details are to be confirmed.

Ms Lee Huei Chern, Head, Community Engagement & Merchandising, SINGSOC says, ""This is a special year for all Singaporeans. It is Singapore's 50th Anniversary and our turn to host the SEA Games after 2 years. So, we wanted to have something for everyone at the Games, to bring communities together and invoke a sense of pride and ownership in Singaporeans.

The 28th SEA Games Carnival ends on June 16 2015 and runs from 10am to 9pm daily, except on June 5, when it closes at 5pm, June 7 when it opens at 9am and June 16 when it closes at 5pm.
