SEA Games: Logistics centre to house equipment and supplies opens

SINGAPORE - The Singapore Southeast Asia Games Organising Committee (SINGSOC) today announced the opening of the SINGSOC Logistics Centre (SLC), which will be the logistical nerve centre of the June SEA Games.

The facility is located on the premises of logitics provider CWT Limited, which has been appointed as the games' logistics service provider.

In a statement, CWT said that the SLC will provide a monthly warehouse space of 17,000 sq ft and storage space for 11,000 pallets over 12 months.

Items that will be stored at the SLC include sporting equipment, such as Olympic bicycle racks, table tennis tables and balls and mats for combat sports, as well as supplies like the official attire for volunteers, snacks and beverages.

Mr Lim Teck Yin, SINGSOC Exco Chairman, said: "The SLC is the backbone of the Games' operations. All in all, the centre will store, manage and move 1,642 tonnes of sports equipment, fittings and general supplies."

CWT Limited CEO, Defence Services, Brigadier-General (NS) Ishak Ismail assured that the logistics challenges under demanding timeframes will be met.

"CWT is proud to handle logistics for the SEA Games on home soil while promoting sports and community spirit," he added.
