S'porean man still missing near East Coast Park; search and rescue operations ongoing

SINGAPORE - Search and rescue operations for the man feared to have drowned near East Coast Park is still ongoing.

In an update released on Monday night, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said that Search and Rescue (SAR) operations for the missing male Singaporean continues today.

MPA has been coordinating the SAR operations since receiving report of the incident at about 2pm on Sunday, Nov 24. The incident happened in the waters off the National Service Resort & Country Club (NSRCC).

As of 6pm today, the ongoing SAR operations has involved three MPA craft, one Police Coast Guard craft, one Singapore Salvage Engineers craft, one small craft from NSRCC and one small craft from the Singapore Sailing Federation.

Commercial divers have also been activated to assist in the search. MPA and the Police Coast Guard have expanded the surface search areas of the SAR operations to cover the coast line and sea between Changi Naval Base and Bedok Jetty, and will continue through the night.
