Senior Counsel (SC) Mr Kannan Ramesh has been appointed as a Judicial Commissioner of the High Court, said the Prime Minister's Office on Friday. His term will be for two years, beginning 22 May 2015.

Judicial Commissioners have the powers of a judge and are appointed for a specific period.

Mr Ramesh specialises in the fields of dispute resolution, insolvency and restructuring, and international arbitration. He is the Managing Partner of Messrs Tan Kok Quan Partnership.

He was appointed Senior Counsel in 2012, and obtained a Bachelor of Laws, LLB (Hons.), from the National University of Singapore in 1990.

With the appointment of Mr Ramesh, SC, the Supreme Court will have a total of 13 Judges (including the Chief Justice), 10 Judicial Commissioners and five Senior Judges.
