A 45-year-old man who was believed to be involved in a series of housebreaking cases at HDB estates in Tampines, Simei and Pasir Ris, has been arrested with the aid of police cameras.

There have been reports of missing valuables from tables within residences, and apparatus such as a fishing rod, bamboo pole or brooms were found at the scene for some cases.

The Singapore Police Force said in a press statement that officers from the Bedok Police Division managed to identify the suspect after they reviewed CCTV footage and conducted extensive ground enquiries.

Police have also recovered the stolen items, which include electronic gadgets, laptops, wallet and bags.

The suspect was arrested yesterday at 9.55pm at Tampines Street 2 and will be charged on Dec 19 for Housebreaking and Theft. The man may be faced with a maximum of 14 years' imprisonment with caning.
