Shanghai Dolly rebrands Ladies' Night
MOUTHFUL: Clubbers enjoying the new Suck & Blow shooters.

Ladies' Night at Mandopop club Shanghai Dolly just got rebranded.

Its new provocative title - Suck & Blow, It's A Girlie Affair - could send temperatures rocketing at the popular Clarke Quay watering hole.

Launched on Aug 6, the club's rebranded Ladies' Night saw party animals letting their hair down and having a ball of a time downing colourful tubes of jello shots.

The jello shot, which gives the night its name, requires the participation of two people for it to be consumed - one to blow one end of the shot and the other to suck at the other end.

As M found out from Mr Gordon Foo, 32-year-old coordinating director of operations for St James Holdings, Shanghai Dolly is the only club in Singapore serving Suck & Blow shooters.

"It is exclusive to us, so we decided to name our new Ladies' Night after it," he said. "It sounds titillating, but that's the idea."

From the response on opening night, Mr Foo said clubbers have taken to the new Ladies' Night "very well". "Everyone had great fun," he said.

The ladies in the house swung into full-on party mode fast, what with the array of eye candy laid on for them.

Besides the Suck & Blow shots, another new addition to Ladies' Night - which is every Wednesday - are the suave, muscular and topless hunks mingling with the female guests and handing out drinks coupons.

On the night, women get up to 10 free drinks (not inclusive of the Suck & Blow shooters) from 9.30pm onwards.

During the DJ dance segment, the hunks even hit the bar top, their gyrations eliciting shrieks and cheers from the excited crowd. Mr Foo said that the night also marked the return of DJ Kzee to the decks where he will be the Ladies' Night resident DJ.

"Kzee used to spin at Powerhouse at St James Power Station and clubbers loved his music," said Mr Foo. "He has a huge online following and his remixes are always fantastic."

Some female clubbers told M that they were very taken by the rebranded Ladies' Night.

Housewife Ms Elene Tan loved the new additions. "So many improvements have been made," she said. "They have vastly improved many clubbers' experience - including mine."

Beauty adviser Ms Hazel Teo, who is in her late 30s, said: "It's really eye-opening to see so many young topless hunks. "Without fail, my girlfriends and I hang out at the club every Wednesday night.

"As for the Suck & Blow shooters, I think younger girls will enjoy them more than us."
