Punggol residents are about to have a spanking new cinema where they can catch the latest blockbuster as Shaw Theatres opens its newest outlet that boasts the most number of screens in suburban cinemas here.

The organisation said in a statement on Tuesday, Jan 19, that their newest cinema featuring 11 screens, including a digital IMAX theatre, will open on Thursday at Punggol shopping mall Waterway Point.

Since 2010, Shaw Theatres has increased the total number of their cinema screens from 30 to 66. Their total number of cinema seats have also gone up from at least 6,200 to over 10,600.

This Chinese New Year, Shaw Theatres will be releasing sequels to box office hits such as From Vegas to Macau III and The Monkey King 2, as well as local film director Jack Neo's Long Long Time Ago, executive vice president of film distribution Christoper Shaw said.

Prior to the cinema's official opening on Thursday, Shaw Theatres Waterway Point will be holding an open house from Jan 18 to 20. Free movie tickets will be up for grabs for both Waterway Point shoppers and SAFRA members.
