SIA jet in emergency landing

A Singapore Airlines (SIA) aircraft, Flight SQ425, made an emergency landing at Kuala Lumpur International Airport yesterday after a cargo fire warning went off.

The warning was sounded towards the end of its flight from Mumbai, India, just 20 minutes before the descent into Singapore.

An SIA spokesman said the aircraft, a Boeing 777, landed in Kuala Lumpur without incident at 4.01pm.

"Thorough inspections were carried out on the ground, which showed no signs of fire, and the aircraft departed for Singapore at 7.24pm," he said.
