KAJANG - A father is pressing statutory rape charges against his 13-year-old daughter's silat teacher, after the girl ran off to live with him.

But their "honeymoon" was shortlived after police tracked down the couple in Batu 9 here last night and returned the girl to her parents.

Her 17-year-old boyfriend, however, has been remanded and could face a mandatory five-year jail term, if found guilty under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape.

Kajang deputy OCPD Supt Abdul Ghani Mohamad Ji said the girl's father lodged a report after he found her missing from her bedroom at about 4am on Dec 13.

"On her bed was a note that said the girl had run away from home 'to find peace' and told her father not to look for her or call the police.

"The father then found that there was an SMS in his phone, that was sent a few hours earlier from the silat teacher to ask his daughter to come out of the house," he said.

Police found the couple at a flat in Taman Megah in Batu 9, Cheras at about 11.35pm on Wednesday and arrested the young man.

"The suspect confessed to have sexual intercourse with the girl, but claimed that they were a couple and that she willingly had sex with him," said Supt Abdul Ghani.
