Singapore and Japan satisfied with Third Bilateral Swap Agreement

Leaders from Singapore and Japan expressed satisfaction on the signing of the Third Bilateral Swap Agreement between Singapore and Japan when exchanging views on wide ranging issues.

The agreement will contribute to the stability of both countries' financial markets and help support growing bilateral economic and trade ties.

Emeritus Senior Minister (ESM) Goh Chok Tong met Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Taro Aso, during his visit to Tokyo where he delivered a keynote speech at the 21st International Conference on "The Future of Asia" yesterday.

Mr Goh also met Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at the Conference Dinner where they exchanged views on regional developments.

In his Conference Dinner speech, PM Abe paid tribute to the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew, who was one of the founding members of the Conference. Mr Goh expressed appreciation for PM Abe's tribute.

Mr Goh also held separate meetings with Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Secretary-General Sadakazu Tanigaki, Komeito Chief Representative Natsuo Yamaguchi and members of the Japan-Singapore Parliamentary Friendship League.
