Singapore appoints new non-resident Ambassador to Chile

SINGAPORE - The Singapore Government has appointed Mr Chua Thai Keong as Singapore's next Ambassador to the Republic of Chile. He will be resident in Singapore.

Mr Chua joined the Foreign Service in 1986 and served as Ambassador to the Republic of Korea and concurrently Ambassador to Mongolia from 2006 to 2010.

Before that, he was the Director of a political Directorate covering Northeast Asia and Oceania from 2002 to 2006. He was also the Minister-Counsellor in Tokyo from 1998 to 2002.

Mr Chua is currently on secondment to Shell Eastern Petroleum Pte Ltd as Special Adviser/Asia Pacific in Shell's Government Relations unit.

Mr Chua is married to Mdm Xia Bing and they have three children.
