Singapore Blog Awards 2015 - Call for nomination and registration

Revisit the past and look to the future as the annual Singapore Blog Awards (SBA) celebrates its eighth year with a "Time Travel" theme.

Organised by omy.sg (www.omy.sg), Singapore Press Holdings' (SPH) leading bilingual-friendly news and entertainment portal, the Singapore Blog Awards continues its search for strong independent content producers who are required to constantly raise their game without compromising on blogging standards.

This year, there are a total of nine Editors'/Judges' Choice categories, two Advertisers' Choice categories, and two Followers' Choice categories. Award categories are reviewed by the SBA organising committee and supporting editorial team, and changes are made based on relevance to current trends and feedback from participants.

With a spike in interest for health, fitness, and overall wellness in the digital content space in the past year, a "Best Health & Wellness Blog" award has been added to the Editors'/Judges' Choice categories. The new award looks for blogs that cover sports, physical and/or nutrition-related topics that encourage readers to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

Lee Kuan Fung, Head, Digital Strategy, Chinese Media Group, SPH, said: "Eight years ago when we invited Singapore Cultural Medallion winner Mr Tan Swie Hien to design the Singapore Blog Awards trophy, he conceptualised it with both contemporary and traditional elements in the design."

"These elements represent the importance of retaining traditional values such as truthfulness, objectivity and integrity, while embracing new means of expression such as blogging. It is also a reminder that the accountability for words are still of utmost importance regardless of medium of expression."

"As social media and digital platforms enable more people to express their views freely, the need for truthfulness, objectivity and integrity become all the more crucial as masses are increasingly seeking digital content for both information and opinions, partly contributed by bloggers."

Singapore Blog Awards is proud to have Panasonic Singapore as its presenting sponsor for the fourth year, which is also sponsoring the "Best Beauty Blog" and "Best Cooking Blog" awards under the Advertisers' Choice category.

Ms Clarice Tan, Marketing Communication Manager, Panasonic Singapore, said: "Panasonic is pleased to be the presenting sponsor of the Singapore Blog Awards for the fourth consecutive year. This is a prestigious annual event that has provided us with the opportunity to work closely with bloggers and social media influencers, who are increasingly integral to our efforts in audience-outreach."

"At Panasonic, we believe the best ideas come from attentive observation of everyday living, careful listening to customers and a constant commitment to making lives easier, more comfortable, more fun."

"By associating with bloggers who are good at their respective fields of content, Panasonic Singapore has discovered many innovative ideas through their creative content, which are also valuable assets that help more people know about how Panasonic and our products contribute to a better tomorrow."

Members of the public can now visit the official SBA site (http://sgblogawards.omy.sg) to nominate their favourite blogs, and bloggers can also register their own blogs for the Awards. Nomination and registration are now open till 22 May. This will be followed by a voting and judging phase, culminating in a big bang event happening in July.
