Singapore Cabinet sends condolences to PM Lee and family after death of Mr Lee Kuan Yew

The Singapore Cabinet has sent its condolences to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his family after the death of Mr Lee's father, former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew.

The elder Mr Lee died on Monday morning, aged 91, after a bout of illness, which saw him hospitalised since Feb 5.

In the statement, the Cabinet Office said: "Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Cabinet colleagues send our deepest condolences to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and the family of our Founding Prime Minister Mr Lee Kuan Yew.

We will always remember his sound guidance, his constant questioning, and his fatherly care for Singapore and for all of us.

Let us dedicate ourselves to Singapore and Singaporeans, in the way that Mr Lee showed us."
