Condolence Letter from Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to Philippine President Benigno S. Aquino

10 November 2013

Dear President Aquino,

Please accept my deepest condolences on the devastation and loss of lives caused by Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda). The precautionary measures and swift relief efforts undertaken by your Government have helped avert a worse outcome.

The Philippines has always demonstrated resilience in the face of adversity. I am confident that your people will pull together and rebuild their lives.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force has despatched a team to Tacloban City to assist the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Activities in the rescue efforts. Please let me know if we can be of further help.

Our thoughts are with the people of the Philippines during this difficult time.

With my deepest sympathies,

LEE HSIEN LOONG

His Excellency Benigno S. Aquino III
President
Republic of the Philippines
