Singapore, 04 December 2013 - In anticipation of the festive peak, SingPost is beefing up its operations starting this Saturday. All its businesses are gearing up with additional manpower and extended operations so that customers can receive their gifts or purchases on time. Management staff are also deployed to help out as resources are strengthened across the board. Please see attached infographic for summary of measures taken.
1. Special weekend deliveries
a. Saturday deliveries for mail packets
SingPost's postmen will be delivering mail packets on all Saturdays in December so that their customers will receive their gifts or purchases on time.
Delivery of local mail packets and publications as well as non-standard mail is 3 to 5 working days. SingPost encourages all customers to factor this in and post their items early.
b. Weekend deliveries for Speedpost
For this festive season, SingPost's couriers and management staff will be delivering parcels on weekends (i.e. Saturdays and Sundays) till mid January 2014 so that people can receive their gifts/purchases on time.
SingPost has also engaged supplementary workforce to help out in the Speedpost deliveries, increasing its courier strength by 20%.
2. Peak season helpers at post offices
To cater to the expected increase in post office visits during the impending festive season, SingPost will be deploying additional helpers to ensure a more pleasant customer experience.
From 19 December to 24 December, SingPost staff including management staff will help out at 23 post offices with high traffic. About 250 staff are expected to be rostered to help out at the frontline during the busy lunch-time peak hours.
Apart from post offices, there are also alternatives such as Self-service Automated Machine (SAM) for bill payments, remittance and stamp purchases as well as POPStation for customers to pick up or return parcels 24/7 at their convenience.
3. Additional collections for posting boxes islandwide
a. Additional collections on Saturdays from posting boxes
Additional collection trips will be made on three Saturdays in December - 7 December, 14 December and 21 December - to collect mail from all posting boxes.
b. Additional collections on Sundays for posting boxes at major post offices
Incorporating feedback from public as well as in anticipation of more people posting packets/packages this festive season, we will be collecting mail from about 20 post offices with high traffic on two Sundays in December - 8 December and 15 December.
4. 24/7 parcel pickups and returns
To offer customers greater convenience and flexibility, SingPost has extended the network of POPStation to 10 more locations across Singapore which allow customers to get service faster and closer to their homes or offices. Apart from retrieval of parcels, customers can also return their purchases at the POPStation.
