Singtel TV adds 18 new lifestyle and entertainment channels to lineup

SINGAPORE - Cable television viewers will now be able to enjoy a variety of new lifestyle, music and entertainment programming, after Singtel TV on Wednesday announced the addition of 18 channels to its lineup.

The new channels include seven channels from Discovery networks, which will be available in full high-definition (HD) for the first time in Singapore.

The channels are: Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, Discovery HD World, Discovery Science, DMAX, Eve and TLC.

All Singtel TV customers can enjoy a free preview of the channels until Aug 31. This will include the premiere of Discovery Channel's Singapore Stories, comprising five documentaries featuring a range of homegrown stories and produced by local filmmakers.

The additions also include premier classical music channel Mezzo Live HD and ITV Choice (HD) with its brand of award-winning dramas and comedies from the UK. Both channels are avaiilable for free preview till Jul 30.

"We are thrilled that the full suite of Discovery factual entertainment channels is now available to Singtel TV customers. The timing of the launch is perfect as we are rolling out an exciting slate of content and a whole host of fun-filled activities which are part of the SG50 celebrations," said Mr Enrique R. Martinez, Acting President and Managing Director, Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific.

Meanwhile, fans of Japanese culture can enjoy the hottest Japanese series, movies, animes and documentaries on Wakuwaku Japan. The channel will debut on Jul 6 and will be available for free until Aug 31.

Additionally, five new Indian channels and three new Filipino channels will also be made available.

Mr Goh Seow Eng, Managing Director, Home, Consumer Singapore at Singtel said that in the past year, Singtel TV has added almost 50 channels to its lineup.

"But it is not just about quantity. We seek to offer a breadth of content so that our diverse audience will always find content that appeals to them," he explained.
