Sir Stamford Raffles statue to be barricaded for cleaning

SINGAPORE - The Sir Stamford Raffles statue at the Singapore River will not be available for photo-taking as it will be barricaded for scheduled cleaning from May 7 to 8.

The sculptures from the People of the River (POTR) series will also be cleaned during the same period. Located along the Singapore River promenade, the sculptures include The River Merchants, A Great Emporium, From Chettiars to Financiers and The First Generation.

The Singapore Tourism Board says it hopes to seek the public's understanding as the works and barricades may cause some inconvenience during this period.
