Sir Stamford Raffles statue to be cleaned on Feb 11 and 12

SINGAPORE - Photo-taking opportunities at the Sir Stamford Raffles statue along the Singapore River may be affected when it undergoes regular cleaning from Feb 11-12, the Singapore Tourism Board said in a press statement today.

Barricades will be put up around the statue at the Raffles landing site while it is being cleaned.

Sculptures from the People of the River (POTR) series located along the Singapore River promenade, including The River Merchants, A Great Emporium, From Chettiars to Financiers and The First Generation, will also undergo cleaning on those dates.

"We seek the public's understanding as the works and barricades may cause some inconvenience during this period," STB added.
