SIT to have new centralised campus in Punggol

SINGAPORE - The Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) will have a new centralised campus in Punggol, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced in his National Day Rally speech today.

The new site will house the university's main campus, which is currently at Dover Road, along with five of its satellite campuses which are located in the various polytechnics.

SIT will be integrated with a creative industry cluster to be built by JTC Corporation, and into Punggol Downtown and the Housing Board's upcoming Northshore district.

This will make it easier for students to apply what they learn in the workplace. The residential community will also be able to share SIT's facilities, such as classrooms and the multi-purpose hall.

"So Punggol 21 Plus will now be Punggol 21 A-Plus!" PM Lee said, making a reference to the masterplan to transform Punggol into a sustainable waterfront town.

He also provided a sneak preview of how SIT's new campus will look like at the rally; it will be connected to the creative industry cluster by link bridges.
