Sixth man jailed for sex with teen

SINAGPORE- A sixth man was jailed yesterday for having paid sex with a 16-year-old student who was tricked into prostitution.

Technician Sudirman Yuri, who was among 10 men charged in June, was sent to jail for three months after he admitted to having sex with the Secondary 4 student at a Geylang hotel in February for $180.

The girl's alleged pimp, Malcolm Graham Head, 33, befriended her via Facebook last October before tricking her into believing that as a social escort, she would earn "fast cash" and "high pay".

The girl later realised that she had to provide sexual services to men who booked her instead of just accompanying them to functions and dinner.

She was assaulted and drugged when she refused.

Head allegedly set up a company known as Wet Dreams in September last year.

A month later, he started advertising the girl's availability on various websites, claiming that she was 22 years old.

On Feb 20, Sudirman sent a text message to Head, and the girl met him for sex at the hotel.

He neither asked for her age or her identity card.

Defence counsel Louis Joseph said that his 38-year-old client was not a pervert who deliberately sought an underage prostitute.

"He believed that the girl was of age," added the lawyer.

Sudirman, a bachelor, could have been jailed for up to seven years and fined.

Head and his 19-year-old girlfriend, who is believed to have assisted him in managing prostitutes, have been charged but their cases are yet to be heard.
