'Sizeable' quantity of duty unpaid cigarettes seized in joint op, 8 men arrested: Police

A total of 74 cartons, 164 packets and 25 sticks of assorted brands of duty unpaid cigarettes were seized in a multi-agency joint enforcement operation conducted in Yew Tee Industrial Estate on Thursday (March 31).

A police statement on Saturday (April 2) said that eight men were also nabbed for various immigration offences in the operation which targeted immigration offenders who were also known to be involved in peddling duty unpaid cigarettes.

The operation involved officers from Jurong Division, the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) and Singapore Customs.

Investigations against the eight suspects are ongoing.
